The South African Council of Churches (SACC), general secretary, Bishop Malusi Mpumlwana, says the government should consider a small number of congregants in churches.
Many people are still seeking spiritual guidance during the COVID-19 pandemic.
A pastor and several congregants were arrested on Sunday when a church in Sebokeng held a service in defiance of lockdown rules.
Government should have an understanding, especially when there has not been enough communication on the ground,” says Mpumlwana.
Mpumlwana said priests should also question how they can ensure that they do no promote infections.
